About Us

Luke Lock

Let me start by introducing myself.  My name is Luke Lock and I’ve been a police officer for 24+ years as of 2023.  My brother Dave has been a K-9 handler and trainer with the Pennsylvania State Police for 18 years and is the owner and founder of Proactive Dog Training LLC in Harrisburg PA. Raising, training, and breeding dogs is in my blood. I have been around dogs all my life, specifically Rottweilers as my father used to breed them. I grew up being told that I was learning to be responsible by caring for the dogs.  We had raised other breeds as well but Rotties were always my favorite.  After losing my last Rottie, I decided to search for a new breed.  I did lots of homework and narrowed my decision down to a few breeds before deciding that the Cane Corso was perfect for me.  What drew me to the Corso was that they are extremely loyal and very easy to train.  They are also great with children and are great guard dogs.  I found a “breeder” that was about an hour from me.  We went and checked out a litter that was ready for adoption.  I was not satisfied with the temperament of the parents or the health and demeanor of the puppies.  My search expanded a few hours away and the results were the same.  I wasn’t comfortable with the breeder, his partner, or the dogs.  I was not willing to settle.  This led me to a 14 hour round trip before I brought my first Corso home. Moral of the story is that all Cane Corsos are not the same and you might just have to travel to find the right dog and breeder. A huge misconception is that “it is all in how the dog is raised.”  This is not true. Genetics play a large part in how a dog will turn out.  I place puppies based on temperament, not color and when you get a dog from me, you get my support for the life of the dog and beyond. You also get a genetic health guarantee.

I believe in health testing but this is by no means a guarantee as diet and exercise are  extremely important.  A genetically healthy dog can and will develop health deficiencies including joint issues without the proper care.  This especially starts when they are puppies.

Please reach out to me if you are interested in adding a well balanced Cane Corso to your family.  Be prepared to answer questions because I do not place puppies with just anyone as this is not a breed for everyone.  Also, before calling, please speak with your spouse or significant other and be in agreement with adding a Cane Corso to your household.
